We certainly met under some interesting circumstances! Melissa loved talking about her daughter Kayla at work. Kayla was studying Broadcast Journalism at Emerson College and Melissa loved to show off Kayla’s News videos. Melissa and Lucas worked together at Fairfield Elementary School. So naturally, Lucas would find his way to snoop into these videos. Knowing Kayla had drive and a good head on her shoulders, Lucas was pretty intrigued. One day, Kayla dropped off a coffee for her Mom at work. Kayla saw Lucas for the first time. She thought he was cute, and it was an added bonus that he worked with kids. Both of us being nervous nellies, we didn't speak much. BUT, an hour later, Lucas found himself with a new little Facebook friend request. We started chatting, realizing we had mutual friends and interests. We went out to a movie together at Cinemagic and got Otto's pizza before the movie. In honor of our first date, we eventually would name our best little doggy Otto. Kayla and Lucas would have plenty of phone call dates, sometimes until 5:00am. Kayla went back to school and had a semester out in LA. They talked every day, and Lucas was able to visit for a weekend. Soon after her next semester started, Covid shut down everything. She had to come back home to Maine to finish her schooling. With everything shut down, we still found ways to hang out. Going on hikes, walks, a poor attempt at tennis, and more. As soon as she graduated, she was offered a job in Vermont. With two weeks to find a place, we made it work and ventured out to Burlington, VT together. In Vermont, we got a dog, got engaged(awkward story for another day), and would camp and go on adventures. Now, back in Maine, we are finally able to make this wedding happen. Through all of our hardships and tough decisions we have had to make as a team, we know that we will be able to make it through this game of life together. Our wedding is the next milestone and we are so excited to spend the rest of our lives together!
