Google would lead you to believe Garden Party is just asking for Formal with a pastel twist. Not so! Cocktail dresses don't mesh well with croquet, and cornhole is difficult in a tux. We would like everyone to turn out their most comfortable, colorful, and couture clothing i.e. knee length or maxi dresses and button down/slacks. Hawaiian shirts are encouraged in place of suit and tie, the crazier the better! Note: this does NOT mean jeans and a tshirt. Children under 5 are exempt. The Bride is encouraging fully white or heavily white based dress patterns, and invites those comfortable to break their own wedding dress back out for a spin!! Patterning is welcome i.e. chevron, floral, checked, amoeba, go absolutely bonkers as long as you can toss some lawn darts in it.
It's only taboo to wear white to a wedding because of tradition. A wise man once said "Tradition is peer pressure from dead people" and look how Fiddler on the Roof turned out. Anyway, I don't care about taboos, and the fact really only applies because it is also tradition for the bride to wear a white dress. Subverting all expectations, my dress is not white, but blue! Something Blue is required, so why shouldn't my favorite color be the centerpiece of my outfit? If you'd like to take your own White Wedding Dress out for a spin again (I understand wanting only specific memory ties), and you're comfortable doing so (some dresses turned out to be awful for 6 hours I hear) I'd love it! And I think the pictures will be fantastic.
Skyline Burrito is a local Mom & Pop version of Chipotle, but much tastier! Dinner is going to be served buffet style and everyone gets to build their own burrito bowls with a choice of Brisket, Cilantro Lime Chicken, or Pork. Tables will be available but seating is not structured, so feel free to claim a chair, a bench, or wander around chatting.
