There aren’t many live music joints in Columbia, South Carolina but Tin Roof is one of them. Adam was playing an acoustic set when Lauren and a group of friends walked in. They noticed each other as Adam finished one of a few last tunes. When the set was over, Adam and Lauren casually talked for a few moments over a drink. As Lauren turned to leave, Adam asked for her number. She smiled and penned her number on a half-torn bar tab. Time passed and Adam finally found the courage to ask her out, but he didn’t want it to be too obvious. He sent what appeared to be a “group text” just to her, asking if she’d come to his next show. Lauren was a busy college student and couldn’t make the gig, but the two began talking. They finally decided to meet and this was the start of their forever.

On their first official date, Lauren and Adam went to see the holiday lights at the Riverbanks Zoo. While strolling through the exhibits of giraffes and lions, they noticed the carousel. They laughed that it might be fun to take a spin and jumped on. Adam took a video of the moment and saved the tickets. Years passed and Adam planned a quick getaway to New York. Adam asked Lauren to take a walk through Brooklyn Bridge Park. Far from coincidental, this park is home to a carousel originally built in 1922 and restored to its former elegance for New York. It happened to be closed, but Adam asked if they could take a look around. The attendant obliged and asked if they wanted to take a ride. As the carousel began to spin, familiar music began playing. Lauren immediately knew it was no coincidence that the attendant let them in. Adam pulled the old carousel tickets from his pocket and Lauren smiled. They reminisced about how they met and slowly spinning around on that carousel, Adam got on one knee.
