This is our favorite trail to walk, run, or bike on. It is beautiful in the Summer and leads right into downtown Rochester.
Downtown Rochester is perfect to walk around. There are lots of cute shops, cafes, and restaurants. Some of our favorites to eat at are Lipuma's Coney Island (Famous hot dog place - cash only), Rochester Brunch House, Kruse and Meur, Chomp (good for lunch), Paint Creek Tavern, Silver Spoon, Too La Roo, Cabin Kreuser, Rochester Chop House, and Bakehouse 46.
We want to highlight this spot in downtown Rochester. This is Maria's all time favorite brunch spot. They do not take reservations, and usually there is a wait but it goes by pretty fast. It is right in downtown Rochester, so during the wait you could walk around and shop. They have insanely delicious pancakes, great omelets, breakfast burrito, and fun coffees and brunch cocktails. This is a must for Saturday or Sunday AM.
This is a nice spot for a quicker breakfast or lunch. It has great salads and sandwiches.
This is a nice outdoor shopping mall with lots of stores like lululemon, Sephora, Von Mauer (department store similar to Nordstroms), Aerie, and more. There are also some yummy food spots here like Shake Shack, Poke Works, and The Jackson.
If you want to check out downtown Detroit (about 40 minutes away from the Crowne Plaza), Eastern market is a fun area to walk around Saturday or Sunday morning. This popular farmers market in Detroit has a variety of food stands (kind of like food trucks) with pierogis, beignets, baked goods, and much more. Vivio's is a popular restaurant right by it that has great bloody marys and mussels.
This restaurant is a hidden gem in metro Detroit. They have insanely good Mexican food and great twists on classic American dishes as well. Maria loves the margs, specifically the coconut and spicy margs. Next door, you can find an authentic Mexican grocery store that has fun snacks you could take back to your hotel room. Their cakes they sell by slice are so so good and tajin mangos.
