About Beacon

About Beacon

Beacon is a small town located in the Hudson Valley about a 1.5 hour train ride from New York City. While it is small, Beacon is very much alive with bustling arts, dining, and shopping scenes. It's nestled in the Hudson Highlands so you can't look up without being reminded of the beautiful landscape you're right in the middle of! Beacon is very walkable – it's part of the reason we chose to have the wedding here! Once you're on Main Street, you're able to walk to nearly any restaurant, shop, or other business you'd want to go to.

Eating & Drinking

There are lots of great restaurants and bars we'd recommend: - Beacon Bread Company - Big Mouth Coffee Roasters - The Beacon Daily (Rosie's favorite!) - Kitchen & Coffee - The Roundhouse patio restaurant - Melzingah Tap House - Lyonshare (Chris's favorite!) - Hudson Valley Brewery

Local Shops

Beacon has a lot of cute, local shopping. Here are a few suggestions: - Little King - Binnacle Books - Stella's Fine Market - Stanza Books - Hudson Beach Glass - Hyperbole - Sybil

Hiking

We highly recommend getting out and enjoying the nature around Beacon! There's a ton of hiking trails close to town with a varying range of difficulty. Here are a few we would suggest: - South Beacon Mountain - Hard - Beacon Reservoir - Moderate - Dennings Point and Klara Sauer Trail - Easy

Storm King Art Center

1 Museum Road, New Windsor, NY 12553

Storm King Art Center is a 500-acre outdoor museum located about a 20 minute drive away from Beacon, right across the Hudson River. Go check out all of the sculptures in the larger than life exhibits that Storm King offers! Pro tip - you can rent bikes to make getting around and seeing more of the park even easier.

Dia Beacon

3 Beekman Street, Beacon, NY 12508

Dia is an incredible art museum in Beacon right by the train station on the Hudson River. They rotate their galleries and focus on one artist per gallery. We recommend diving into some art followed by a walk along the banks of the Hudson with scenic views!

Kayak, Canoe, or Paddleboard

There's a place right on the Hudson that rents out kayaks, canoes, and standup paddleboards and it's a ton of fun! Get out on the water for this summer weekend and explore the Hudson just like our forefathers.

For all the days along the way
