Portland Airport (PDX)
The distance is 93 miles and depending on your route or the time of day that you travel it could take you between 1.5 and 2 hours to travel there.
If you are flying in, we would HIGHLY recommend renting a car for the weekend. If you haven't heard of Turo.com to rent cars you should check it out! However, there are other options. See below...
You can take an Uber for anywhere from $125-200 one way (there are no Ubers in Gearhart once you get there so you'll need to find a different way back to the airport) and/or there is a Greyhound bus ($11 ea. way) that leaves twice a day (10am and 7:30pm) from the neighboring city of Seaside and will drop you in Portland where you can Uber to the airport. You can check the schedule here: https://www.greyhound.com/en/ecommerce/schedule
Yes! Email me (andrealyons22@gmail.com) if you would like me to help you find some friends to ride to Gearhart with and I can help facilitate some ride groups! There will be plenty of people driving from Portland.
There are many Airbnb or VRBO cabins/house in the area. There are also plenty of bigger hotel chains in Seaside a few minutes down the road - Holiday Inn, Shilo Inn, Quality Inn, Best Western.
Closest taxi company is AAlpha Shuttle and Taxi Service 503-440-7777. If you plan to arrive or depart by taxi it is best to call ahead and make a reservation.
The ceremony will be on the sand at the beach so feel free to go barefoot in your best beach chic party attire! The reception will be on the lawn outside the resort. It can be chilly at night on the Oregon Coast so be sure to bring a light jacket or wrap for the evening. We will have a big bonfire on the beach at the after party so if you don't want to get your wedding reception outfit sandy or smokey bring a change of casual clothes!
There is plenty of parking in the parking lot next to The McMenamins Gearhart Hotel. The reception will be held on the lawn behind this hotel. The ceremony is walking distance from the Hotel -- If facing west toward the ocean (your back to the hotel) walk to your left and make your first right at 10th street. Follow 10th street all the way down until you get to the sand. Keep walking on to the beach and you should see the ceremony site to your left. Approx. .3 mile walk in total from hotel to ceremony site. Additionally, if you have a vehicle with 4 wheel drive you can park on the beach. When you drive down to beach access make a right (vehicles are not permitted to drive to the left) and you can park anywhere on the right hand side. You'll see the ceremony set up across the sand on the other side of the beach access.
