Tabitha grew up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, while Rex was raised in the town of Plant City, Florida — the winter strawberry capital of the world! The two attended Florida Gulf Coast University, where their love story would begin. During Tabitha’s senior year, fate brought them together at a fraternity event in their small-town karaoke dive bar (definitely not her usual scene). Picture neon lights, off-key Shania Twain, and a bucket of Coors Light to set the mood. Rex spotted Tabitha from across the bar and walked right up to her to ask her out on a date for Valentine’s Day. They’ve been inseparable ever since.

On August 23, 2025, Rex brought Tabitha to the shores of Longboat Key for what she thought was a much-needed weekend getaway. Little did she know he had a big surprise planned. As the day wore on, a storm rolled in. But even under dramatic, cloudy skies, the moment was perfect. That afternoon the two went for a walk on the beach. It was there, with the waves as their backdrop, that Rex dropped to one knee. In that perfect, windswept moment, he asked Tabitha to be his wife, and she, of course, said YES! They soon shared happy tears and laughter with their loved ones, who joined them to celebrate the start of their next chapter.
