Our love story began online. After we were deemed a “match” on OkCupid, James quickly scheduled a date for us to meet in person. We met on a warm summer night, at a small Italian restaurant on the Upper East Side. We shared several laughs together over what seemed like endless plates of food and glasses of rosé. Before we knew it, the restaurant was closing and we were the last ones remaining. The smiles on both of our faces made the next decision easy: it was too soon to end our night. Hand-in-hand, we happily walked to a local bar and began a competitive game of Skee-Ball. James proposed a wager: if he won, he would receive a kiss. Surprisingly and unexpectedly, I won the game! But this unforgettable night, filled with chemistry and laughter, wasn’t over just yet. In a small, dim photo booth, we shared our first kiss. From that very moment, we knew this was the start of something special. We’ve created many beautiful memories together and have been inseparable ever since. We couldn’t be happier to be sharing the rest of our lives together, forever.
For several weeks, my future sister in law Elena, offered to photograph us as she was looking to establish her photography portfolio. If you know me well, you know how much I enjoy photography- photos are frozen moments in time that you get to relive each time you look at them. Elena offered to take our pictures at Astoria Park, a 5-minute walk from our apartment. That Saturday morning, we woke up to a light dusting of snow which made the most perfect backdrop. That same morning, James was visibly anxious, pacing back and forth in our apartment. I vividly remember asking him to reschedule the photoshoot session for another day if he didn’t feel well, he of course disagreed. We made our way through the park, our photographer capturing gorgeous, candid moments. As we got closer to the East River, overseeing the RFK Bridge, James' hands trembled, as he nervously took the ring out of his pocket and was choked up, at a loss for words. In that very moment, James got down on one knee and the rest is history:) It’s a moment in time we will always cherish & we’re forever grateful to our sister for capturing the beginning of our forever. Just when I thought our day could not get any better, James took me to a local Italian restaurant where all our close family and friends were gathered to celebrate us! Best. Day. Ever.
