We met through Tinder and quickly started a conversation about many random things, including spelunking. Sam made Sara laugh- a lot, and we decided to go on a date. After Sara rejected an improv club we met for pizza and a movie for a low-key night. After talking late into the evening, we each knew we had found someone special and couldn't believe our luck.

Sam had planned a fancy engagement in Toronto which was quickly ruined when Sara surprised him with tickets to Norway, Amsterdam and Copenhagen for the same dates. Thinking quickly, he proposed a trip to Portland, OR to spend some time with Sara's sister before the trip. He planned a hike to the Trail of Ten Falls, knowing their shared love of adventuring and the outdoors. After some time we came across a waterfall you were able to walk under- the perfect spot for a surprise. After Sam got down on one knee, Sara said Yes!

In the Spring of 2020, we were ready to buy a house and found one we fell in love with, the first day of looking. Near the end of the mortgage process we found out that we would need to be married in order to complete the purchase. Since the pandemic was still in full force, we decided to have a small sweet ceremony in the front yard of our home in Seattle with our roommates and neighbors in attendance. Luckily our roommates are some of our best friends, and one, Alex, had been ordained shortly before. A few of Sam's family members we're able to join us (socially distanced in the road and driveway) while Sam and Sara exchanged vows, and had a first dance to commemorate the event. While we were sad to not have all of our friends and family with us, it was a special day that we are so excited to celebrate with everyone in 2022!
