Renting with AirBnB or Vrbo is sometimes cheaper than staying at a hotel and can provide more flexibility with regards to type of housing, location, and cancellation policies.
Flight
Flying to South Bend Airport (SBN) is the most convenient way to get to South Bend, though flight options can sometimes be limited. Most out-of-towners fly to O'Hare (ORD) or Midway (MDW) then travel to South Bend. Just keep in mind that Chicago is in Central Time, while South Bend is in Eastern Time!
Travel Note
There are a variety of ways to get from Chicago to South Bend, including rental cars, buses, or the South Shore Line. From the South Bend airport, you can take a rental car, taxi, or Uber to Notre Dame's campus.
