FAQs

The Wedding Website of Allycia Shay and Andre Ramone
Please read through these FAQs to help with planning and deciding whether you should attend. Of course, pretty sure I missed a bunch but it was early in the morning when I typed this up. If you still have questions, reach out to us!
Question

IMPORTANT ***Steps for COVID Travel *** PLS READ***

Answer

Beginning July 8, travelers entering Hawaii from other states in the U.S. and its territories who have been fully vaccinated in the United States (including its Territories) may bypass quarantine without a pre-travel test. The vaccination record document must be uploaded to the Safe Travels platform or printed out prior to departure and hard copy in hand when arriving in Hawaii. Other travelers can continue to bypass quarantine with a negative COVID-19 test result from a test taken from a trusted partner no more than 72 hours before beginning the final leg of their trip. Anyone without a negative test prior to departure must quarantine upon arrival. The negative test result must be uploaded onto Safe Travels or printed out prior to departure and a hard copy in hand when arriving in Hawaii.

Question

Why Hawai'i?

Answer

Andre is from TX and his family is from there and Midwest. Allycia is from VA and her family is from back east. We live in CA. In order for us to have a wedding, someone would have to travel, and Hawaii is the safest place to travel right now. Ok let me stop. Getting married in Hawaii with those near and dear is a DREAM. This is a dream wedding. God gave us a second chance to do it our way. In a place we didn’t even think could be a possibility. Just know, Allycia is somewhere crying happy tears.

Question

How many people should I expect to come?

Answer

40. Therefore we ask for people to RSVP who are for sure attending and ready to book flights/hotel. If you are on the fence, please do not check "Yes." Instead, check "maybe" and we can keep you on "standby." Please, please, please.

Question

I really want to come, but money...the world...you know.

Answer

We understand. We love you. We hear you. We are all doing the best we can right now. The ceremony will be livestream from this page. There will be tons of photos and videos to share.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

We cannot accommodate people beyond those on your invite. Due to budget and COVID concerns, we have to keep our celebration intimate. We ask that if you bring someone to Hawai'i with you, that you are compassionate and empathic in understanding, that we have to accommodate our family and closet friends in 40 people max and your date will not be able to attend.

Question

I’m traveling alone. Is it possible to pair me with a roommate to share hotel costs?

Answer

Please reach out to us to discuss. However, due to COVID, we will not recommend non-households to stay with one another.

Question

What’s an “unplugged ceremony” and why are you doing it?

Answer

Unplugged ceremony is when ALL family, friends and guest turn off phones, ipads, cameras and any other digital distractions. Our fabulous photographer will capture all of the moments, and you can whip out the phone at dinner.

Question

I need help about booking, the schedule etc.

Answer

Allycia loves planning trips. Feel free to email or text her. She'll point you in the right direction.

Question

Where do I RSVP?

Answer

Invites will be sent via email. Please RSVP through that link. Due to circumstances, please RSVP by the date listed. We will not be accomodating people after the deadline.

Question

What's a Luau?

Answer

A Luau is a traditional Hawaiian feast that includes food, entertainment, and storytelling. You may have seen variations of luaus on television with hula and knife dancers, roasted pig, and lots of leis. Yes, all those things will apply here too.

Question

What is the dresscode for a Luau?

Answer

Since this will be in the late evening, we encourage you to feel free to go back to your hotel and change from your ceremony clothes. However it is still a wedding reception, so please feel free to wear fun cocktail attire. At this time, there is no dancing allowed for wedding guests, and the luau will be at the pool cabanas, so please feel free to be comfortable but dressy.

Question

Are you planning group activities?

Answer

We would love to spend time together as a group. The raw nature of Hawai'i has many FREE outdoor moments for us to share: hiking, beach, surfing, sightseeing, and tours. We will share and discuss these moments closer to the wedding day.

Question

What are your safety protocols?

Answer

You need a NEGATIVE COVID test before boarding the plane to Maui. The test must be within the last three days. Upon arrival, we are asking everyone to take a second test before the wedding. Maui government recommends within 72 hours of arrival for this test...and on Maui, IT IS FREE for this second test! We ask that all guests wear masks, use hand sanitizer, social distance, and lots of handwashing while you are on the island. Please act responsibly for your sake and the sake of others.

Question

What does plan at your own risk mean?

Answer

Planning at your own risk means please accept we are in the middle of a pandemic. Therefore, ensure that whatever money you invest is fully refundable. We are trying this again, but we already planned a wedding and had to cancel, so we know it's outside of our control and in God's hands. Please know we are asking and expecting everyone to be safe and abide by the CDC regulations. If those transparent requests do not feel right to you, we understand and ask that you politely decline in coming out of respect for the rest of our loved ones.

Question

Where are YOU guys staying? When are you arriving?

Answer

We can let everyone know when we have the final details, but as of now, planning to arrive on Sunday, August 30, 2021, at OGG airport. We will spend three days at The Inn at Mama’s Fish House in Paia then on Thursday, September 2nd we will stay at Hotel Wailea for two days.

Question

What hotels do you suggest?

Answer

Airbnb, The Inn at Mama’s Fish, Hotel Wailea (adults-only), Lahaina Shores Beach Resort, Sheraton Maui, Fairmont...

Question

Where should we stay?

Answer

KIHEI, South Maui, is a sprawling beachfront town known for its easygoing vibe, numerous beaches and budget friendly options. Staying HERE gives you easy access to the island. About 20 minutes from the airport. WAILEA, South Maui, is the trendy, touristy place to be and full of luxurious hotels. If you want treat yourself, the options are abundant. Beaches are less crowded. Most of the hotels in this area have shuttles. Our reception will be in Wailea. Upcountry: HAIKU and PAIA are north shore / up country. It feels more tropical. This area is 45 min / 25 miles from Wailea area. It’s a quaint, unassuming community with great food, surfing & fun trinket shops. sprinkles of rain may occur. Our ceremony will be in Haiku. ***DO NOT stay in HANA unless you are comfortable with 2 hours in the car when you want to venture to another part of the island. If you are OK with this, then Hana is a beautiful place and has lots of picturesque places. ****

For all the days along the way
