Travel Note
Telluride, Colorado is known for it's dramatic peaks, rolling mountains, winding rivers, and picturesque Victorian town. Telluride was founded in 1878 and was a former silver mining camp. At an elevation of 8,750 feet Telluride sits in a box canyon on the San Miguel River in the western San Juan Mountains. Neighboring Downtown Telluride is the town of Mountain Village, where you can also find a plethora of hotels, condos and restaurants.
Travel Note
The two towns are connected by a FREE Gondola. Getting around is easy and renting a car is not necessary — you can easily explore the cute shops, victorian homes and delicious local restaurants via free public transit or by foot. It runs every day from 6:30am-Midnight. The halfway point is also where you will get off to attend our ceremony! Don't forget to look up! The view is truly spectacular from every angle.
Travel Note
We suggest to stay in Mountain Village: Wider selection of hotels, up on top of the mountain, quiet and picturesque. or Downtown Telluride: Many Airbnb/Vrbo/Hotel options! Right next to majority of shopping and restaurants. (The Reception is in Downtown Telluride) Often other places seem close on the map, but are an hour plus drive away in the mountains (Example: Ouray).
Travel Note
Both Mountain Village and the Town of Telluride sit at ~9,000 ft, with our wedding venue up at ~10,500 feet. While altitude sickness is very rare, high altitude can still cause mild symptoms in some folks that run the gamut from lack of appetite, to weakness, dizziness, fatigue, and difficulty sleeping. This means that there are a few rules to live by! 💦 STAY HYDRATED! This one is key. Plan to drink twice as much water as you would at sea level. ☀️ PACK SUNSCREEN + CHAPSTICK These two items will be your besties. 🍸 ONE DRINK = TWO OR THREE Take it easy on the alcohol! Seriously, one drink at altitude will feel more like two or three. LASTLY... Be careful with sleep medication and medication from the benzodiazepine family, as both can result in lower blood oxygen levels. Avoid over-exertion for 1-2 days after arrival to altitude.
