For those of you that don’t know Nicks mom Loura lived in Germany in a town called Schwäbisch Hall. After high school Nick had an opportunity to move to Germany and play football in the GFL. It just so happened to be the same little town his mom had lived in. I spent 4 years hearing all the awesome stories about Germany and how cool it was for Nick to be living in the same place as his mom. We talked for years about him taking me to Germany and showing me all his favorite places. We finally planned a trip in September where we could go visit his family, many of his friends I had the pleasure of meeting over the years on their visits to Arizona, and the many different towns Nick had lived in throughout the years. On his birthday him and I traveled to Schwäbisch Hall to spend the time just the two of us. We spent the day wondering around him showing me his favorite places, visiting his favorite little bar and just soaking in how beautiful it was. Towards the end of the day he mentioned he forgot a place he wanted to show me so we headed up there. It was an overlook of the whole city. As I was sitting on the ledge taking it all in he was pointing out all his favorite places in Schwäbisch Hall, he then proceeded to get down on one knee while telling me this was his favorite place because it’s where he asked the love of his life to marry him. Obviously I said yes but to make it even more special his cousin Dani drove 2 hours to come hide and capture the moment for us. Now we just added one more piece of history in this little town to one day share with our children.
