How We Met

True friends always leave footprints in your path

Mitchell and Jordan met in high school when they were both members of the West Johnston Future Farmers of America. Although they were friends, they were both pursuing other relationships at the time. After high school Mitchell earned the title of a United States Marine and Jordan became an insurance agent in Kansas. Years later they both found themselves residents of JoCo again. Their friendship was rekindled when Mitchell asked Jordan on a Jersey Mike’s lunch date. Over the next several months they learned they were meant to walk down different paths earlier in life to prepare them for the events that were yet to come. Neither one of them knew where their current roads would lead, but knew they wanted to walk down them together. Each day they have grown in their faith hand in hand and side by side. The couple is happy to announce that they have made the decision to spend the rest of our lives together and always be by each other's side.

The Proposal

LoveByrds

There is nothing more enjoyable to Mitchell and Jordan than sharing their home together. Of course, it comes with learning curves but they have made the best out of every step of the way. Some of the traditions they have are cooking together, dancing and spending time together and these all take place in the kitchen. In the kitchen they bond, grow, pray, plan, fuss, forgive, and laugh but most of all they love. As they were planning the final details and packing the truck to head for Maine on their first vacation together they reminisced on their loving and obnoxious times in the kitchen. Mitchell pulled a ring out of his pocket, got down on his knee and asked Jordan if she wanted to spend the rest of her life with him making more of the wonderful memories. After a long 30 second sob, she squeaked a "yes of course!", then went back to sobbing.

OH that Shine!

Tidwell's Jewelry Store

Jordan introduced Mitchell to some of her family that lives in South Carolina. As they ventured through the town that helped raise her, they visited the local boot shop, the craft store, the BBQ joint and Tidwell's. This is a local store that was used by her Pappi to buy all of Nana's jewelry and her wedding set. Her parents also had their wedding sets purchased there. Her Pappi took her there as a teenager and bought her the first ring she had ever been given. At 14 she can vividly can remember the shakes she had when he put it on her hand and the overwhelming love she felt for him but most of all how special he always made her feel. As they walked around the store and she shared the stories with Mitchell, she pointed out a ring in the glass box that caught her eye and hooted about how beautiful it was. They soon left the store without any more talk of our trips around town. When opening the box to look at the engagement ring after her seconds of sobbing, the box read 'Tidwell's Jewelers’ on the inside. If her heart hadn't exploded yet it did by that point. He continued to tell Jordan his sneaky ways of going back and somehow getting the exact ring she gawked over in the case from the store that has always melted her heart.

'Always by your side' is meant to be Devine

coming up with the slogan

They have ventured into becoming the proud owners of Byrd Dogs. This encompasses their greatest passions they share together all while spending time with their four-legged, furry children they love dearly. As you could imagine they had a wide range of ideas when trying to come up with a slogan. 'Doggie lovers' was out of the question, 'Friendship at it's Best' was a thought but they wanted to focus on the bond they share with the dogs and what role they play in their lives. When Jordan tossed up the idea of "Always by Your Side" to Mitchell he quickly responded "uhh I'll think about it.." and quickly bolted out of the room. After Mitchell proposed, Jordan realized why he reacted so strangely. Mitchell had engraved "Always by Your Side" in Jordan’s ring. The night Jordan suggested the idea, was the day Mitchell received confirmation of the engraving being completed from where he had already requested to same words on the ring.
