Because we are working to coordinate 4WD transportation for everyone to travel the mountain road, we ask that you RSVP by July 1 to have an accurate estimate of the number of vehicles and drivers we will need.
While we're all here to have a good time and celebrate, it's important to remember that there are others who live in the area. Please keep speed under 20 miles per hour on ALL roads after turning off of the paved road - fast driving damages the road and puts you at risk. Do not travel off-road, even if you're in an SUV - the main road crosses private property and we ask that you respect that boundary. If a property owner meets you on the road and asks about your reason for being there, politely explain that you're there for a wedding at the Frantz house. There are three gates on the road. The first and third gates have several locks for different groups (Cedar Creek Road Association, Forest Service, Electric company, etc.). The second gate is a chain latch - but it must be closed behind any cars due to horses. Wedding venue staff will be at the first and third gates to let you in and out. Under NO circumstances should you cut the chain or a lock to get through.
DRINK WATER! Be prepared for alcohol to work faster than it usually does. Drink water. Bring lotion/lip balm. Drink water. Did we mention drink water? We'll have sunscreen on hand in case you forget yours. And...you guessed it, water! We are at high altitude - stay well hydrated and consider bringing a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen for comfort. The weather can change quickly, so plan to bring a jacket just in case. Wear comfortable shoes. We'll have extra sunscreen on had in case you forget, and we'll do our best to make sure there is always water available. If you are not used to the altitude, it can hit you hard - drinking water is the best plan to combat any discomfort.
There is absolutely NO SMOKING permitted on the property, in the house, or on the road. Please leave cigarettes, cigars, vape pens, marijuana, and fireworks at home. The property and house have had several wildfires in the past that have come very close - we are extra cautious and ask that you be as well. Even a hot tailpipe can cause embers in the tall grass - another good reason to stay on the road. The house uses a septic system - only flush toilet paper (no other trash). While we have a "Dog of Honor," we ask that you leave pets at home. The mountain house and property are open to native animals, and we want to keep your furry friends safe.
Yes - Casual and comfortable is the name of the game for our special day. Our wedding and reception will be outdoors (weather permitting) with the ceremony beginning at 12:30pm. The average temperature for Denver in September is 63.4 degrees. According to the National Weather Service, September is the fourth warmest month of the year for Colorado. Especially in the mountains, it may be warm and sunny, but Colorado weather can change quickly! Because we'll be outside for both the ceremony and reception, we would recommend comfortable shoes (ladies, no high heels - you'll thank us). We'll have sunscreen on hand for you and plenty of water to keep you hydrated.
We are hiring SUVs and drivers to shuttle folks from the first gate to the mountain house. That way, the most challenging parts of the road will be left to the professionals. We'll give you good directions to the first gate via email, but just about any car can get up to the first gate. If you have concerns, please let us know and we can try to connect you with someone who can help you get to the first gate.
Wonderful! Please let us know in your RSVP how many people you're able to help get to our wedding.
You can do it! Most sedans will make it to the first gate without trouble, and we've got you covered from there - we'll let you know what time you should be there to ride in one of the SUVs we've hired to help shuttle people up and down the mountain.
We are hiring SUVs and drivers to get people from the first gate to the house where the ceremony and reception will occur. As we get closer to the date, please keep an eye out for emails regarding your assigned time to get to the first gate (more directions will be provided via email as we receive your RSVP). The first convoy will leave the gate around 10am and the last convoy will leave the first gate at 11:30am. If you're in one of the first groups, you'll have more time to enjoy the views, graze at our charcuterie station, enjoy a beverage, and relax before the ceremony.
We are so fortunate to have a home full of the things we need, but would welcome gifts of experiences we can share together. Our goal is to build a future so we have set up a fund to use towards a future home purchase, which can be found on the Registry tab of our website. (We also have a traditional registry Williams Sonoma)
