We met at UAB Campus Rec Center in 2015, both working as facility attendants, and Michael was the first to train me. Our very first shift together we talked for hours and he asked me numerous questions to know more about. After many more shifts together Michael decided that he liked me, but did not pursue me since he is six years older and I had mentioned that I was already interested in someone else. Over time Michael and I continued to keep in contact as friends after I found another job; but we slowly drifted apart and dated other people. Finally, in 2017 Michael contacted me to ask how I've been and we decided to grab dinner. We discussed all that occurred in our lives since we last saw one another and learned that we both were single. Although we were interested in dating each other, neither one of us stated our interest for a few months. After months of getting to know each other more we solidified our relationship, 12/30/17 , when I had walking pneumonia and was too sick to go out to an early New Year's celebration with Michael and friends; so he celebrated with me at my apartment by bringing me food and watching a movie. HOW HE PROPOSED: We had just came back to Birmingham from visiting my family in Mobile and I wanted to go to an outing to say goodbye to a coworker who was moving to Texas with her husband. Michael and I were both tired at the outing, so I assumed afterwards we would just go home to rest. Once we left, Michael asked if I wanted to visit Vulcan Tower . I thought this was an odd request since we were so tired, but I love to visit the Vulcan so I agreed. We got to the top of the tower and just marveled at our beautiful city. Then he started to ask me specific questions about our future while we both looked over the railing at the city lights. After many back and worth questioning and answering he asked " And what would you say if I asked you to marry me right now?". I turned around and he was on one knee with the biggest smile on his face!
