Flashback to 2014, we both started working at Cinemark, me in March and him in May. We had worked together for a year before we ever looked each other’s way. One day I just looked at him and thought this guy is really cute. I was definitely interested first. One night in May of 2015, I was working Concession with my friend and we were almost done closing. Edwin was the closing usher and he had walked into the concession area and we were all just talking. I saw my chance, so I said to both of them, “Hey, I don’t have you guys on Snapchat” and I added them both that night. I followed him around the theater for a bit and he wanted to take a picture of me smiling, but I hid my face. Once I got home, I sent him a selfie smiling. That was just the beginning and who would have thought we’d be here now.
Our first date was at BWWs, I used to love that place so much. I was was so nervous and shy, but it was really fun and we ate there so often that we don’t really go anymore.
Movies were and always have been a big part of our story. I’ll never forget watching Jurassic World with him in theater 12, when it was still stadium seating. We’ve probably seen hundreds and hundreds of movies together, many of them, he was dragged to.
We “talked” for about two months before I was over there not being a label. One night I just needed to know, so I asked, “What are we, because I don’t just kiss my friends. We’re either something or we’re nothing.” And he asked me to be his girlfriend right then and there.
Flash forward to now, we’re engaged, and a couple months away from becoming husband and wife. We have grown so much together and are ready to start our married life together as partners, finally. I had told Edwin I was ready to be engaged at 4 years and he waited 6. I can’t believe how fast the time has gone. Time really does fly when you’re having fun.
