Life has a funny way of connecting people, often in the most unexpected ways. I can’t remember the exact year, but some time ago, I noticed him at a Pizza Pizza in Markham and Lawrence, hanging out with a bunch of teenagers. They were all being super loud, which naturally drew my attention. Among the chaos, he stood out, and I couldn’t help but think he was cute. In my head, I started imagining all sorts of wild things—marrying him, having his kids, you know, the crazy fantasies we women sometimes have. Then, I went about my day and forgot about it. Fast forward to 2018, and out of nowhere, he reached out to me on Facebook. At that time, I wasn’t looking for a relationship at all. I was really focused on my career and was in the process of joining the Canadian Forces. When he asked me where I lived, I said the Dominican Republic, thinking it would put some distance between us. However, he was quick to call me out, saying, "You have a picture beside a Burger King. Is there one in the DR?" I insisted there were, but he remained skeptical and sent me the picture. I ended up ghosting him for a while. Finally, I admitted that I lived in the same country as him and we decided to meet up Whether it was destiny or coincidence, it seems like our paths were meant to cross, leading us to where we are today.
