The first time we hung out

Mom Jeans

We had been talking for 9 months by the time July came around, definitely playing each other. Yeah, we were friends but we both wanted more and both of us were too proud to admit it. We saw each other through multiple relationships and failed dates with other people but we always came back to eachother. Brayden watched me go off to Berlin and was convinced I wasn't coming back, and I didn't plan to. Even when I did, I planned to return in the fall and I did everything I could to go back but my GPA from spring semester was so bad from being so sick, I couldn't get into a school. Brayden saw me through all of this. So when I came to Cincinnati in July to stay with my aunts and my friends, he asked if I wanted to go to see Mom Jeans, a band I loved in early high school; a band we had both loved then. I didn't have money for it but he was set on bringing me so he bought it for me because he wanted to see me before he left for Basic Training. I rememeber walking out of Maria's apartment to find a yellow Volkswagon Beetle and a long-haired Brayden in the driver's seat. Also in the car were his friends, Gabi and Olive, who I now value highly as friends. I didn't think Brayden liked me, depsite staying close to me the whole time. I later found out he was just insanely nervous and even got ready 3 hours before he needed to for the day. That day, we met Mom Jeans, went to Fusa Bowl and Starbucks and I must have talked for 9 hours straight with Gabi. After Starbucks, I had to wait for Maria to get back to let me into her apartment so we watched the sunset over Sigma Sigma Commons and talked for a few minutes, alone. Once he got home, he asked to see me again the next day but I needed to get back to Akron. A few days later, he left for Boot Camp and I didn't think he would give me another thought, even though I thought about him everyday and stayed in touch with Gabi. In September, I received a letter from him and I realized I was the only one of his friends to get one, where Gabi then revealed that he had felt the same way for almost a year at that point. Thank God I got that letter, thank God we went to see Mom Jeans. I know neither of us would rather be anywhere else right now, I'm even glad I didn't go back to Berlin. There was a new adventure waiting for both of us at home.
