A Love Written by God: The Story of Sherry & Louis

"When faith leads the way, love finds its path."

Sherry and Louis had attended the same church for over a year and a half without meeting—she volunteered in the children’s ministry, while he sat in the congregation. Unbeknownst to them, both were being prepared by God for a future together. Their mutual friend, Lee Reichbaum, prayed over Louis one day, declaring that God would bring a godly woman into his life. Louis, wary from past relationships, was taken aback. Around the same time, he contacted Lee for a real estate agent recommendation, leading Lee to connect him with Sherry via text. A Connection Sparked by Real Estate Initially, their conversations revolved around selling Louis's house. Each Sunday, Sherry anticipated seeing him at church, exchanging warm greetings and friendly hugs. An Unexpected DoorDash Delivery One evening, Louis texted Sherry to ask about her day. She mentioned it had been a long day and she was ready for a glass of wine to unwind. Louis offered to send her some wine via DoorDash, surprising her when he arrived personally with the delivery. What was meant to be a brief visit turned into a four-hour conversation filled with deep talks and laughter. As the evening came to an end, there was an exchange of a warm embrace. The hug was much different than the "Hello Hug" on Sundays. The First Kiss & A Test of Patience The following day, Louis invited Sherry to lunch, but a storm led them to meet at her place instead. That evening, Louis confessed, he wanted to do something last night when he left and he didn't so at a point in the conversation, he said "If I don’t do this now, I may not do it at all," and kissed her. They talked for hours afterward. The next day, Louis expressed his desire to take things slow to build a deeper foundation, which initially made Sherry feel like she was being rejected. However, after she thought about it and processed the conversation he wasn't saying he wasn't interested he was saying let's take it slow. After Sherry saw him worshiping at church the next day, she realized his intentional and respectful nature made her appreciate him even more. Shared Experiences and Growth Together, they navigated health challenges and family illnesses. They celebrated holidays and events, cherishing moments in church where they grew in love and faith. Sharing prayer, worship, and the Word became their deepest form of intimacy. The Proposal—A Moment of Prayer & Promise On Sherry's birthday in September, Louis wrote her a heartfelt letter, confessing he was falling in love with her. Months later, they discussed marriage and in January of this year, chose an engagement ring. Before their first premarital counseling session, Louis asked Sherry to meet early at church to pray. As they knelt at the altar and prayed, he proposed, bringing her to tears with his thoughtful gesture. A Love Built on Faith Guided by God, Sherry and Louis kept Him at the center of their relationship, deepening their love and receiving His blessings. Everyone comments of the joy they see all over these two since meeting and Sherry shares how grateful she feels that she gets to marry the man who prayed for her before knowing her, respects and cherishes her, makes her laugh, challenges her to grow, and loves her wholeheartedly. Their story stands as a testament to trusting God’s timing, bringing the right person into their lives at the perfect moment.
