Question

Do I need a visa for India?

Answer

Yes, all foreign nationals need a visa for India, but Europeans and Americans can apply for an e-Visa through the link below. The visa is usually delivered within 72 hours, but we recommend applying for your e-Visa around one month before your date of arrival. https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/tvoa.html

Question

Which airport should we fly into for the wedding?

Answer

Chennai International Airport (MAA)

Question

How do we get from the Chennai International Airport to the wedding venue?

Answer

Once we have more information on everyone’s flights and arrival times in Chennai, we can arrange a shuttle bus that can pick everyone up at the airport and drive them to the wedding venue or if you have a different arrival date/time, you can also take an Uber/taxi from the airport to your hotel.

Question

When do we need to arrive in Chennai?

Answer

Around noon on Saturday, November 1st— so that everyone can make it in time for our first event at the Taj Fisherman’s Cove Hotel, which is around a 1 hour drive away from the Chennai International Airport.

Question

When can we start flying back?

Answer

All the wedding festivities will end by around 3-4pm on Monday, Nov. 3rd, so people can fly back from the Chennai International Airport on Nov. 3rd night itself.

Question

Where do we buy the different Indian outfits for the wedding?

Answer

— SAREE: Sarada’s mom (Raji) is in contact with a wholesale seller of sarees and has offered to (1) buy a saree, (2) buy the underskirt that goes under the saree, (3) get the blouse stitched by a tailor according to each person’s measurements for a total sum of 25 euros for whoever wants one! The stitching process of the saree (especially the blouse) takes at least 7-10 days, so most people may not have enough time to go buy a saree themselves and get it stitched after they arrive in India. Please fill out the Google Form below by June 30th if you want one. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf5Y051yU17iO75MkfdHGuWCtcOPFUO1YHCS1dguBaF3uqbvQ/viewform — DHOTI: Sarada’s mom can order one for you for 5 euros. Please fill out the Google Form above by June 30th if you want one. — KURTA PAJAMA (any colour for men for the Janaavasam and yellow for the Haldi): Once you get to India, there are many stores such as Reliance Trends, Pantaloons, and Lifestyle where you can find a long kurta and the white pajama pants that go with it. Easy and affordable options can be found online on Amazon India or Myntra. Please reach out to Sarada if you would like an Indian address to get them shipped to! —SALWAR SUIT: Once you get to India, there are many stores such as Reliance Trends, Pantaloons, and Lifestyle where you can find one. Easy and affordable options can be found online on Amazon India or Myntra. Please reach out to Sarada if you would like an Indian address to get them shipped to! — LEHENGA: Some of you have expressed interest in wearing a lehenga. Though this is traditionally North Indian wedding attire, it is absolutely fine for you to wear one for the Mehendi or the Janavaasam. Easy and affordable options can be found online on Amazon India or Myntra (make sure to look for a “Ready to Wear Lehenga” as the blouses for lehengas also often come unstitched). Please reach out to Sarada if you would like an Indian address to get them shipped to!
