Her side I was out on the town celebrating a new apartment with my roommates and some friends. We were at a bar called The Satisfied Frog in Sault Ste. Marie and a guy I was with wanted a picture together. I turned around and saw a man standing alone at the bar and asked him to take our photo. Cory agreed and took a few photos of us. I thanked him and continued on with my evening. Later on a group of us proceeded to The Downtowner where I met up with a few more friends. I was having a heated conversation with some police officer friends when Cory walked up to our table and introduced himself to me. I said hello but was distracted and continued my previous conversation. At this point I had to use the restroom, but the establishment didn't have any toilet paper. I returned to the table and told my friends that the establishment was lacking in critical resources in the ladies restroom. A few minutes go by and Cory returns to the table with toilet paper from the men's room. I found Cory on social media the next day to thank him and found out he was staying close to the tiny island I grew up on. We made a plan to meet up at a small waterfront park in Barbeau and the rest was history!
His Side After nearly five years of dating, it was time to give Lou the ring that she deserved. The plan was to go skiing and snowboarding at Boyne Mountain followed by a fireworks show where I would pop the question. We invited a group of close friends to join us and used Lou's birthday celebration as a cover story. Things did not go as planned! Everything was great until we followed some friends into the terrain park, bad idea! We had only been participating in our winter activities for about a month so we weren't very experienced. Lou hit a jump in the terrain park and crashed hard! I hit the same jump and wiped out too. When I got up, Lou was calling for me and clearly needed help. I eventually made my way to her and it was obvious she was in a lot of pain. After several minutes I helped her get her skis back on and we slowly made our way back to the lodge. To say I was panicking was a huge understatement. Our skiing adventure was done for the day but I was thinking of every excuse to be able to stay at the resort. We assessed Lou's injury and she thought she could stay at the resort a little longer. By then we were all hungry, so we put in a reservation at the restaurant and headed to the waterpark bar for some much needed painkillers. By the time our table was ready it was nearly time for the fireworks to start and I was getting nervous. We had placed our order, but it was only minutes before the fireworks were supposed to start. We decided to abandon the table, though the servers saved it for us since everyone that worked in the restaurant knew the plan. We gathered everyone together and headed to the bottom of the ski hill to watch the fireworks. As soon as they started, I told Lou i wanted a picture with her, and we moved to the front of the group. I then told her she was the best thing to ever happen to me, and I couldn't wait to spend the rest of my life with her. I then got down on one knee, asked her to marry me, and SHE SAID YES!
