Our Story

We met at South Hills Park, through a friend of Michaela's, Louis was dating her at the time. We didn't think much of our introduction at first, but in time we realized it was meant to happen. A couple months after we met, Michaela got punched in the face by the person that introduced them. She prefers not to use names because the past is another land, and she wants the memory to be far beyond her reach. ANYWAYS, we began to talk significantly more after that happened. We became good friends over that time. A little less than two years later, our friendship was beginning to blossom into something more. We were at a football game, about a month before homecoming 2012. Louis was sitting in the student's section of the bleachers, while Michaela was in the back row of the band section, doing her dancey color guard thing. At some point towards the end of the game, Michaela snuck down to the row Louis was at, and they sat together on the steps where the two sections met. Most of the conversation was a blur, it was over a decade ago for crying out loud! But Michaela remembers asking about whether or not Louis was going to go to the dance. At first, he wasn't because he just experienced a breakup, and didn't see a point if he didn't have a date. Without hesitation or realization, Michaela responded by saying "I'd go with you," and her face immediately became redder than her hair was at the time. Needless to say, their first date was the homecoming dance, a few weeks later. They started to officially date on Michaela's 17th birthday. The high school version of the romance concluded a little over six months later, but we remained friends in what Michaela calls "the in-between time", which was cool. We still hung out at least once a week, at least after Louis finished college. During college, it wasn't as frequent, and that made Michaela really sad. But we did text almost every day. Any time we would hang out, we would call that time a Bestie Date, even though it wasn't technically a date. In February, 2021, Michaela asked Louis if he wanted to try to go on an actual date. Louis asked Michaela to define a real date, and she told him to eradicate the word "bestie" from his verbal dictionary for a day, the rest is basically the same. He eventually agreed, and we went on our first date on March 12, 2021. We had a picnic where we met, we had Panera Bread takeout, and we sat on a blanket on that hill near the basketball court. After we had our dinner, Michaela kissed Louis on the forehead, Louis kissed Michaela, and the rest is history. We're so excited for this next step of our journey, and we cannot wait to create so many more memories together.
