Lou just moved to a new apartment in the Old North of Tel Aviv. She was looking at that time for a pension and a new dog walker for Shaft. She recognised one day in the neighborhood the famous dog whisperer of Tel Aviv walking with his 14 dog-pack. One late night she bumped into him on the corner of her street, while he was walking a few dogs, of course, wearing an ironed shirt and moccasins and asked him for his contact details to help her out with Shaft. Eyal lost the ability to speak as he couldn’t believe his secret crush approached him and he quickly dismissed Lou by giving her his phone number and walked away blushing. A week later they went out for a long night walk with their dogs, so “he could get to know shaft and integrate him quicker to the pack”, but the truth is that Eyal didn’t want Lou to become his customer at all and he stayed very vague when she was asking about prices. They started meeting on a nightly base to walk their favourite furry animals in the neighbourhood. A month later they met on a beautiful Saturday at the beach to paddle on Eyal's board with the doggies. They got to know each other slowly and when the time was right Eyal finally got the courage to invite Lou to his favourite cocktail bar, after which they left hand in hand. Moments after, they were kissing with their eyes closed and Lou’s precious hand bag was stolen and she didn’t even mind.
Eyal had it all perfectly planned. They were going to Brussels for Christmas and they had a day trip planned to Paris, where he would do the proposal under the Eifel Tower. However, what he didn't plan was that he would get very sick on the way to Belgium. Paris got cancelled and he still had the beautiful ring in his pocket... Two days in Belgium were left, from which a full day with Lou's friends and family and the next day was Anais' Baptism. Tough to find a special moment just for the two of them... Luckily, Lou offered to go for a date diner the last night. Perfect! Dominique dropped the two love birds off at a rustic restaurant in the middle of the Flemish country side. When they got out of the car, Lou heard her favorite love songs playing. At the entrance of the restaurant, they had made some kind of a love arch decorated with hearts and teddy bears which was already for Saint Valentine. A Devine intervention! Eyal rushed on his knee and asked Lou to marry him. Lou got so surprised and excited that she could not stop laughing and coughing (she caught Eyal's bronchitis in the meantime), but of course, once she was able to find her breath, she cried out loud “YES!”.
Special thanks to Marc and Dominique Van Gansbeke for offering their home for the party!
