The Old School Way

It all started with a green dress. I had been working at a new restaurant and Lou came in to visit her friends, my co-workers at closing time. We chatted and flirted for a bit, but I tried to act like I was busy ending the night as she left with her friends to another place. When she left and I remember seeing that green dress as she looked back and smiled. A week or two passed with us both asking her friends, what’s the story with the other, but pretending there was nothing to it. As chance would have it or maybe some good real world matchmaking by friends we would cross paths again. This time, there was no need to pretend. As we walked to her ride for the night I asked to see her again, and to my luck she thought that would be fun. Possibly there was a kiss on the corner of 8th and Florida in NW Washington D.C., but as you’ll soon read I’m bad with details. We went out not too long after, trying to keep it casual, but then we went out again and again and AGAIN and then there was her friend's wedding and then my cousin's wedding. We survived the family and friends tests and the last 3 yrs have been a blissful blur of getting to know my best friend and partner in crime. And oh ! That detail I got wrong, it wasn’t even close to being a green dress as pictures and the fact it currently hangs in our closet has proven. In my defense, I was never looking at the green dress, I was looking at my future wife. We can’t wait to share and celebrate with all of you!
