India Street passes through Little Italy and hits the bottom of the Mission Hills area. It just also happens to have some of our favorite spots. Vino Carta: Bottle shop w/lil snacks, pop-up foods on certain days, great outdoor patio for people watching Blue Water Market Seafood and Grill: Best fish tacos (actually), fresh caught fish, homemade tortillas, mussels & frites, bisque in a bread bowl... you get it. Saffron Thai: Two words PEANUT. SAUCE. Great chicken skewers, fantastic curries, fried rice, the works. Gelato Vero: A 'hole in the wall' if you will. Been going strong since the 80's. A no nonsense establishment with great gelato, coffee, espresso, and other baked goods.
Torrey Pines: Slightly north of La Jolla, but gorgeous views of Pacific Ocean. Easy walking trails through chaparral that lead down to the beach. Birch Aquarium: Not the biggest aquarium but it's done well and it has a great view of the ocean. Copy and paste link for cuteness: https://aquarium.ucsd.edu/cams/penguin-cam La Jolla Cove: Lots of restaurants and shops in La Jolla. Some of the best coastal views, and if you walk over to the cove you can catch sea lions doing whatever it is sea lions do.
Liberty Station used to serve as the Naval Training Center from the 20's to 90's but has since been transformed into a 361-acre, historic all-in-one hub featuring shopping, dining, art, and entertainment. Quick eats, and sit down restaurants...bottle shops, brews, vino, cocktails etc. There is something for everyone. Highly recommend Stone Brewing for food & drank. If sitting outside be prepared to hear the planes flying overhead!
