Was it love at first sight at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (UL) homecoming game when Kamri met Lotanna? This writer seems to think so. She fell madly in love with Lotanna's looks and charm. Can you already guess who was in charge of writing this? Kamri and Lotanna met on October 13th, 2018, at the UL homecoming game. Kamri and her group of friends were approached by Lotanna and his group of friends. Lotanna came to find out that Kamri thought to herself, "I wish that sweet chocolate man would come to talk to me." Well, fast forward and he did. Lotanna and Kamri enjoyed talking to each other that day and finding out more about themselves. Kamri told Lotanna that she was the best intern at the local TV news station and in typical Nigerian fashion, Lotanna whyned Kamri and told her he would watch her next time she was on the air. They exchanged numbers and looked forward to seeing each other around. Kamri couldn't get enough of the Nigerian Prince and the next day, Lotanna and Kamri went on their official first date. They went to Sonic together and got shakes. Who would have guessed this would be how these love birds would start their journey?

As with any relationship, this one has not been perfect. Lotanna and Kamri met in two different phases of their lives. Lotanna was just starting his master's degree and Kamri was about to graduate from the Communications Program (as Mrs. B.'s favorite student ever!). Kamri had to move to Lincoln, Nebraska to start her career as a TV news reporter while Lotanna had to stay back in Lafayette, Louisiana. Lotanna told Kamri that long-distance relationships didn't work, but as they lay in her empty apartment after a long day of packing to move Kamri out, she told Lotanna, "Let's give it a try, and we both have to promise to never give up." Again, in Nigerian fashion, Lotanna agreed knowing this was crazy. Kamri moved to Nebraska in July 2019, and true to her word, she kept the fire burning. Both she and Lotanna promised to visit each other as often as they could, and they both kept that promise.

The stage was set. During the Thanksgiving holiday, Lotanna and Kamri went back to New Orleans to spend it with her family. During this time, Lotanna talked to Kamri's dad about asking his daughter to marry him, and Mr. Randy gave his blessings to his future son-in-law. On December 26, 2022, Lotanna and Kamri invited some of their friends to Painting with a Twist. Unknown to Kamri, Lotanna had asked the instructor for a canvas painting of a sunset with a diamond ring and the words "Will you marry me?". At the end of the painting night, the entire group took a picture with their paintings and Lotanna retrieved the proposal painting. Kamri and Lotanna took an individual picture together and that was when Kamri saw Lotanna had a different painting. She was shocked and emotional, crying tears of happiness as she took it all in. After the best speech she had heard, if I do say so myself, she said a big yes and he placed the ring on her finger. And here we are today, ready to take the next step...marriage. Now, the real work begins!
