Flight
To reach Cartagena, it is often best to fly via Bogota, Colombia's capital. There are several flights every day from London Heathrow to Bogota, which vary in price depending whether you fly direct or not and are historically between: Direct (11hrs) - Avianca - ~ £500-650 Via Madrid (14hrs) - Air Europa - ~ £400-550 Via Toronto (15hrs) - Air Canada ~ £350-500 Obviously to get the lower price, book in advance! The best prices are often found between 100-200 days in advance, so make sure you set those price alerts on London-Bogota on SkyScanner, Hopper or website of choice! Once in Colombia, it's best to fly between cities due to its size and internal flights are great value at around £30-40 a flight. If you have time, we hope you can spend a week or two exploring this incredible country and we have provided some suggestions in the Things To Do section in terms of other cities to visit. VivaColombia is similar to EasyJet and can get you between cities for as little as £25 a flight.
Hotel
The wedding reception is at Hotel Sofitel Santa Clara. Originally built in 1621 as a convent, the Sofitel Legend Santa Clara is an emblematic part of Cartagena’s vibrantly beating heart, the historic center. Transformed into a luxurious hotel in 1995, it boasts a unique style, combining the best of local history and hospitality with the art of French savoir-faire. The stunning hotel brings together colonial architecture and the style of La Republique with modern comforts. Wedding guests receive discounted rates, so please ask Natalia or Matthew if you choose to stay here.
House Or Rental
For groups of friends or family traveling together, Cartagena offers amazing AirBnB options — many of which can house up to 16 people comfortably. Natalia and I often stay in AirBnBs when we visit Cartagena as they are really reasonable and often very characterful! If you choose to do this option, one in the old city would be best as it would be close to the church and wedding reception (while the old city is relatively small, the new part of Cartagena is large!).
Hotel
Cartagena is well and truly geared up for tourism, with large hotels, smaller boutiques and hostels to suit every budget. If you can, try to find somewhere in or near the Old City, which is the old fortified city and where the wedding will be taking place.
