I met Loryn in 2016 during my first clinical rotation as a Nurse Anesthesia student. Her mother, Loretta, was my patient and was sure to convey how beautiful, professional, and accomplished that her daughter was. She made it clear that although she would like for me to meet her daughter, she would be just fine with or without me. Thanks to "face page" as Mrs Jamison would call it, Loryn and I connected for our first date at Fox's pizza and the rest is history!
I was living in Baton Rouge at the time, but agreed to be my mom’s driver for a simple procedure back home in MS. We had to be there for 6am, so needless to say, I was dressed super comfy with my chunky twists adorning my head. Once at the hospital, I caught eyes with this tall, black guy, but quickly looked away because I didn’t want to be creepy. After they came to get my mom, while I was on my way to the waiting room, I saw the same guy! I proceeded on to the waiting room and thought nothing more of him. In about an hour I was told to come back to the patient area; that my mom was all done. She had this HUGE smile on her face, but that’s just who she is so I figured she was still feeling her anesthesia. Once we got into her room, she told me that she had an anesthesia student doing her anesthesia today; at this point I noticed the nurse with her was giggling. My mom continued to tell me how this guy was single, had no children, and had “kind eyes”. Little did I know she had arranged for him to come “check on” her. Well, he didn’t get a chance to meet me while checking on her, but he did leave his name with her. She assured him that we knew how to use Facebook. She passed that info onto me, and told me to do with it as I pleased. Well, once I found him on Facebook, I realized this was the guy I kept seeing! I messaged him and his response included his phone number. We had weeks of phone conversations before we got a chance to go on a first date, but the connection was made from the very first talk and the rest is history.
