How we met

June 8th, 2017

A few days prior we had hung out together with a bunch of friends... this was the first time we hung out one on one. He took my phone and added himself on my snapchat while we were all hanging out at kingston steam plant, where Hunter took my under armor hoodie and put it on (it was actually hilarious). Hunter was actually trying to talk to my friend, and I was doing the same to his friend. He ended up taking me and my friend home that night, and decided to drop me off last. We sat in his 2001 white ford ranger stick shift for a couple hours just talking. I remember telling myself that “oh no, I am not gonna fall for this pretty boy scheme.” The next day I get a snapchat from Hunter asking if we could all hang out. Me, my friend, him and a couple of his buddies all went to carbide. After Hunter asked me if i wanted to go “ride around on the mountain?” Obviously I said yes, I had never felt like I was on the tip top of the world like I did that day. The wind was blowing through my lake water semi damp hair. The rock’s color was glowing with the sun starting to set on the cool summer night. As we were riding back off the mountain, we had got on the subject of relationships. I personally said that I knew what he was trying to do and he was not my type. ( I don't know what my 15 year old self’s type would have been though). He stopped the truck, got out, and made me drive his truck home. I had absolutely not a clue how to drive a stick shift at that point in my life. So I did what anyone else would do. I put that thing in neutral, forgot what a break was and coasted down windrock mountain. That is the earliest memory I have with my beloved Hunter, when we started a friendship.

Fireworks

July 4th, 2017

Our first Fourth of July was unlike any other. We ended up taking a trip with his family to Sevierville. We ended up going to the island that year to watch the fireworks. Hunter completely surprised me by buying me a gold feather chain necklace that he gave to me on the sidewalk as we were walking back to the truck. He asked me to be his girlfriend while putting the necklace around my neck after we spent the day walking around the island and eating ice cream.

The proposal

July 4th, 2020

3 years to the day, Hunter asked me to marry him. The day happend super fast, but he still managed to keep the proposal a secret... between me and you, I don't think he even knew he was going to ask me. At the beginning of the day, he was gone with one of his buddy’s and I was coming home from getting a new dream catcher (shop local) when I ran over a piece of tar, that acted as if my car was falling apart. I was beyond mad, because we were already 3 hours late to visit my papaw and mamaw at the campground. We finally made it there and back when I was surprised to see a surprise birthday/graduation party that was partially thrown for me. At the end of the night we always had a huge fireworks show with Hunter's family... then it clicked, I knew something was up. I was in the kitchen putting mustard on Jerri's burnt firework hand when anxiety hit me. I had to change my shirt 4 times before I went back outside. When I finally worked up the nerve to walk outside, he asked me to light a firework with him. That was the first time in 3 years he had ever wanted help to blow something up, I knew he was trying to get me in front of everyone. We were both standing there, he got down on one knee and said “will you marry me!?” I was in complete disbelief. I was entirely numb. He stood up and wrapped me in his arms and has not let go since.

For all the days along the way
