We met the 2018 way....A dating app! We matched on Bumble and Lorin messaged me first! Her first message to me was "You have a great smile!" We hit it off from there and scheduled a lunch date a few days later at Blaze Pizza
On May 31, 2019, Mike and I had plans to go to dinner with friends. For some unknown reason, my mom heavily hinted that I curl my hair, actually put on makeup, and even helped pick out my clothes that morning. It was a Friday and I usually don’t have time to do a lot since I have to take Nora to school and then have to get to work. But, I should have known something was up when she took me to get my nails done in the middle of the week….I was completely clueless. All morning I was thinking "Um... Ok weirdo. I am pretty sure that I can dress myself for dinner.” Luckily, I did what she told me and actually got dressed. After work, the plan was for Nora and me to meet Mike at his apartment so we could ride together. OF COURSE, I was running late after picking up Nora from school. We rushed up the stairs to his apartment in hopes that I would have enough time to wash off her Kool-Aid mustache and brush her hair before we head to dinner. I opened the door and the room was dark. Mike was standing there in front of a table that had three brown paper packages sitting on it and had lights hung behind a curtain on the wall. My favorite movie is “The Sound of Music” and he even set up a sign that said "brown paper packages tied up with strings, these are a few of my favorite things." The first super romantic thought I had was "oh crap." I just stood there staring at him and not knowing what to do with my hands. After taking everything in, Mike told me to start opening the packages. The first one had a picture of him and Nora, the second had coffee and a new coffee cup, and under the third box he had the ring and a sign that said: "Will you marry me?" Of course, I said YES!
