Nate and I met at The Masters University in Santa Clarita, CA. Upon meeting, we couldn't believe we were both from the Carolinas. We began dating in college, and soaked up every second together before Nate graduated first and moved back to South Carolina to start working. This led to having to do long distance since I decided to stay in california to finish my last year of school. Although long distance was tough, we made the most of our circumstances by flying back and forth to see each other when we could, along with frequent facetime calls. Here we are now about to get married and we are so grateful that the Lord saw fit to bring us together. We are so excited for this new season of life we desire that Christ be magnified through all of it.
One day I was working from home and my mom asked me if I wanted to go to Wrightsville beach for a couple days, which I thought was a little funny because we had just returned home from the beach a couple days before. I agreed to attend the spontaneous beach trip with suspicions in the back of my mind. Flash forward to the first morning at the beach, I woke up to find that my brother Daniel flew all the way from Chicago to surprise me. As soon as I saw Daniel, I knew it was happening. My sweet sister in law Ivy, handed me a letter, which was my first clue from from Nate. The letter explained that it was going to be a very special day, and that the day had to begin with a yummy cup of coffee. After beginning the day with Drift coffee, my second letter appeared, telling me to go have a fun beach day with my family. Once at the beach, my third letter stated that we had to go get Jersey Mike's (my favorite lunch spot) for lunch before going back to the beach house for the day. After coming back from the beach, I received my final letter. This letter requested that I get myself ready to be picked up by my dad at 5:00pm. My dad began driving and my heart was racing because I knew what was about to happen. My dad dropped me off at my favorite spot at Wrightsville beach, where I rounded the corner of a sand dune to see a very nervous Nate standing on a blanket arrayed with my favorite flowers. I quickly walked up to him and he took my hands and asked me if I was having a good day and if he could make it even better. He proceeded to get down on one knee and say the words I had been dying to hear, "Will you marry me?". Of course I said yes, and we spent the evening celebrating with our families, eating the best snacks from Trader Joe's, and even ended the night with a round of mini golf.
