Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

April 29, 2022

Question

Where will the wedding and reception be held?

Answer

Both the wedding and the reception will be held at the Dayton Art Institute (DAI). Before the ceremony and during the cocktail hour, guests will have the opportunity to visit its galleries. The Dayton Art Institute is divided into Upper and Lower Levels. The Upper Level contains the Berry Wing of European Art and Dicke Wing of American Art. The Lower Level includes Special and Focus Exhibition galleries, The Lange Family Experience Center and Patterson-Kettering Wing of Asian Art. On May 27, the Institute will be hosting a special Van Gogh exhibition as well as a special ancient Chinese ceramics exhibition. To learn more about the DAI visit https://www.daytonartinstitute.org/

Question

Where is the Dayton Art Institute located?

Answer

The Dayton Art Institute is located in the Grafton Hill neighborhood near downtown Dayton, at 456 Belmonte Park North, Dayton, OH 45405, just minutes off Interstate 75.

Question

What time should I plan to arrive?

Answer

The ceremony will start promptly at 4:30 p.m., and the prelude will begin at 4:00 p.m. We recommend that you try to arrive an hour before the ceremony.

Question

Where can I park?

Answer

A free parking lot is adjacent to the museum building. Additional parking is available on neighborhood streets.

Question

Are the ceremony and reception location wheelchair accessible?

Answer

Yes, the venue is fully accessible.

Question

Are purses/bags/etc. allowed in the galleries?

Answer

For the safety of the art, most bags are not permitted. The only exceptions are: bags for medical care, bags for childcare purposes, and small purses (smaller than 11″ tall × 15″ long × 4″ wide). Backpacks and back-pack style purses are not allowed in the galleries, due to the risk of them striking artworks while being worn. Storage lockers are available free of charge in the Rotunda coatroom, on a first-come, first-served basis. All purses and bags are subject to security check, regardless of size. The museum reserves the right to decide what should be placed in the coatroom or to refuse items into the museum.

Question

What will the weather be like on May 27?

Answer

The average high temperature in Dayton on May 27 is 74 degrees, but the range is anywhere from 60 to 85 degrees, so if you are traveling from out of town, please check the forecast before you pack. (This is Ohio. The weather changes every 5 minutes!)

Question

What should I wear? Is there a dress code?

Answer

Weather permitting, our ceremony and cocktail hour will be held outdoors in the Hale Cloister, a formal garden. The reception will be held inside in the Shaw Gothic Cloister. You can get a glimpse of our venue here: Daytonartinstitute.org/upcoming-events/host-your-wedding-or-event/ Our dress code is "garden party" (think summer suits and summer dresses, light fabrics, fun colors, florals, and, yes, even hats). Above all, we want you to be comfortable, so please keep an eye on the weather. For instance, you may want to bring a wrap if the weather happens to be a bit cool. Seating for the ceremony will be in a grassy area, so very high heels are not recommended.

Question

What happens after the ceremony?

Answer

After the ceremony, the bridal party will be taking pictures nearby for around an hour. Guests can enjoy a cocktail hour in the Hale Cloister and/or walk through the DAI's galleries.

Question

What should I do if I have any dietary restrictions?

Answer

Please note any dietary restrictions on your reply card OR tell Lori or Rick.
