Loren & Scott's friends
Sarah and Shane live in Riverside, CT and have two daughters; Noa and Isla. Lola and Noa have been BFFs since the "Little Explorers" group at Temple Sholom and then attended nursery school together. Sarah is a speech pathologist working in Greenwich and Shane is an attorney working in NYC. She is the one person, other than Scott, who I speak to on a daily basis. Don't get into a car with her. She inherited her parent's inability to drive safely - Ha!
Loren & Scott's friend
Janel and I met when our kids went to nursery school at Temple Sholom. She and her husband Howard have two kids, Estelle and Levi. She is a very talented stylist and works in and around Greenwich and NYC. We are very lucky that we have continued the tradition of movies or dinner, on a regular basis since our kids have been in preschool. She has also recently been hired by me as my own personal narc. Ask her about it!
Loren & Scott's friend
EJ and I met when our kids went to nursery school at Temple Sholom. She has a husband named Ben and two boys, Harry and Jack. The boys even have popcorn named after them! Ask her about it. Even though our lives are busy we still make time to connect.
Loren & Scott's friend
Rachel and I met when our kids went to nursery school at Temple Sholom. She and her husband Brian have boy/girl twins, James and Avery. Rachel always throws the best parties never missing a detail. Rachel is a very talented marketing and branding expert. We continue to share dinners, beach days and New Year's Day together ever since our kids have been in preschool.
Loren & Scott's friends
Marlene and Alan hold a very special place in my heart. They live in Greenwich and have three kids, Jessica, Andrew and Daniel. I have known them since I was a teacher at Glenville school and worked with their boys. Marlene was one of the major players in helping to redesign the New Glenville School. Alan was in finance and is retired. They saved Lola and me when we had our flood by allowing us to stay in their beautiful (and empty) home on the water in Greenwich. They are loving, philanthropic and love to travel.
Loren's Family
Alison and Michael live in Pittsburgh. Alison is my 1st cousin on my dad's side. They have two daughters; Shaina and Adina. They love music, hockey, football and family. Michael is a rehabilitation doctor and Alison can spend the entire day at the library keeping herself busy. Alison and I have the same birthday. It was Alison and Michael who introduced the idea of a Jamaica wedding to us, and we ran with it!!!
Loren's Family
Kevin is my 1st cousin and has been married to the wonderful Kathy for as long as I can remember. Our fathers were brothers. They have two daughters; Sophia and Chloe and live in South Jersey. Kevin is an attorney and I believe Kathy works at a law firm. We love to spend time with them, especially when they come to the NYC San Gennaro Festival. They love to laugh!!!
Loren & Scott's friend
Lisi and I met as Graduate students at NYU when we were getting our Master's in Education. We definitely spent more time socializing than studying. We also crossed paths years before on our teen tour when we were 16. Lisi has two kids and Tommy has three. They have reconnected since knowing each other in high school and have been dating for several years. They both live on Long Island and they are a perfect match.
Loren & Scott's friends
Julie and I went to York Prep High School together and were BFFs. We lost touch after high school but have since reconnected, as if no time went by. We are beyond fortunate to have each other again. In May, it was Julie's 50th and we were lucky to accompany them with 5 other couples for a fabulous trip to the Dominican Republic. Julie's husband David is intelligent, kind, mild-mannered and funny. He is just who I would have picked for her. They have two daughters and a son. They have spent a good deal of time living in California and England and now they are back on the east coast, living in Westport, CT.
Loren & Scott's friend
Donna and I began working at Glenville School the same year (20 years ago). Not only has she been a regular part of my life since then, she also played the most important role of being Lola's kindergarten teacher!!! What a gift that was, to have a close friend watching and teaching Lola all day long. Poor Donna - Ha! Our group of Glenville teacher's have worked hard to stay connected through the years. We have annual get-togethers, which we fondly refer to as our GGG (Glenville Greenwich Girls). We also just turned 50 within days of each other this summer.
Loren & Scott's friend
Karen, Donna, Megan and I all worked at Glenville School together. Karen was the most spectacular special education teacher on the planet. She lives up in Scotland, CT with her husband Paul and two daughters; Katherine and Margaret. She is still teaching making a difference in kids' lives everyday. She is a fantastic, thoughtful, kind friend who I truly treasure.
Loren & Scott's friends
Megan and I worked together at Glenville School until Megan decided to have kids (4 of them) and moved to Ridgefield. She was a fantastic 4th grade teacher! Ken works in The City for TD in finance. They both have fantastic senses of humor and are the best friends you can imagine. They have a great house on Candlewood Lake which has made for many great memories. Matty, Justin, Alex and Mackenzie are super-duper kiddos. (Alex and Mackie are boy/girl twins). They are all BIG hockey fans and players.
Loren & Scott's friends
Sara and I went to York Prep High School together (w/ Julie too). Jamie went to another private school nearby and Sara and Jamie dated in high school. The two of them went their separate ways after high school. They each got married and had children. About five years ago, they reconnected, got married and have been together ever since. They are meant to be husband and wife. Sara has an older daughter and young boy/girl twins. Jamie has two older kids.
Mother of the Bride
My mom is the reason we are able to have this wedding. She is a strong, beautiful, intelligent woman who has worked hard her whole life to make a great life for me, her only child. She might struggle to get around but her mind is as sharp as a tack and her sense of humor keeps us all laughing. I am so grateful for they way she loves with her whole heart and her aptitude for forgiveness in unmatched.
Loren's Family
Aunt Nancy is my Aunt-Extraordinaire and my mom's younger sister. She splits her time between Miami and Aspen and has given me the gift of my two cousins Marc & Jody. She has 4 grandchildren, who are her world. She is a brilliant fiber-artist. She has been an integral part of raising me and I spent many summers living with her down in Florida, going to camp with my cousins. She and my mom speak everyday.
Loren's Family
Randy and Will are my parent's best friends, my "other parents", and Lola's other "grandparents". Randy, along with my mom and Aunt Nancy, also played a huge role in raising me. They live in Great Neck, NY, have three sons and four beautiful grandchildren. Their greatest pleasure is having the family together under one roof. They are no doubt some of the most important and influential people in our lives. Without them, we would not have the house we are currently lucky enough to be living in.
Loren's Family
Josh is Randy and Will's son. He lives in Brooklyn, NY with his wife Jill and two kids, Charlie and Wren. They are a musical and highly creative family. Josh's wife is a children's stylist and Josh is a filmmaker and photographer. Josh has two brother's; Jordon and David. When we were kids, Josh used to be my baby doll and I would put him in my doll cradle and rock him. Randy used to have to tell me to leave him alone, but I could never get enough! I love Josh like the brother I never had.
Loren & Scott's friend
Kyle is my best friend from college (SUNY Buffalo). A day has not gone by since 1990 that I have not loved, appreciated and been uber-grateful for our friendship. Kyle lives in Northport, Long Island with his wife Nikki and his two kids, Ava and Carter. Kyle and I have more stories about each other than we both care to share, but give us enough to drink and we'll spill the beans. He was the first person I called when my dad died and he came to be by my side immediately. His loyalty has never wavered. Most importantly, he will be walking me down the aisle and giving me away to Scott. :)
Loren's Family
Marc has been my closest cousin since I was two (when he was born). He lives in Miami, Florida with his wife Grace and two kids, Santiago and Sofia. We have had a lifetime of adventures together, including taking a golf cart for a joyride at tennis camp, getting chased by a rabid dog, trips to Aspen, etc. Marc has a uniquely creative mind and is fascinating to talk to. He is warm, generous and very smart. Good luck following a conversation, he speaks very quickly.
Mother of the Groom
Sheila is Scott's mom. She has spent the last few decades living in Ottawa, Canada. She recently moved closer to her two daughter's, Annie and Joanie, in Toronto, after her husband Fred passed. Sheila was a trained nurse and in her early days spent some time training down in New York, at Colombia Presbyterian . She is a big fan of jazz music, which her son and grandson Leo have inherited. She has six grandchildren, who currently live all over the world.
Scott's Family
Annie is one of Scott's older sisters and Ed is her fantastic husband. They have two grown kids, Chevonne and Ryan. Chevonne lives in Toronto and Ryan recently moved to Boston and got a job teaching at Harvard. Annie is highly creative and has an eye for fashion. Ed is enjoying his somewhat recent retirement, finding plenty of activities to keep him busy.
Scott's Family
Joanie is Scott's other older sister. She is married to Mike Shaw and they have three grown boys; Callum, Alec and Brendan. They live on the outskirts of Toronto. Joan is a teacher at a college specializing in architecture. She also took up learning to play the harp a few years ago. Ask her about the musical instrument called the Carillon. She knows how to play this wildly cool instrument and has some good stories to tell about it. I recently learned she enjoys shopping at high-end vintage stores. A girl after my own heart.
Scott's Family
Callum is Scott's nephew. He is smart, charming, silly and handsome. He's been rocking his sales job in Toronto and continues to dream big. He definitely has the gift of gab. He is very family oriented and is so warm and loving to his grandmother. Callum is NOT allowed to offer the bride tequila. The last time he did, at his cousin Ryan's wedding, I woke up with a bagel on my thumb and almost couldn't make the plane back home.
Our Best Son & Best Daughter
Lola worked diligently on the piano this year learning to play and then record the wedding song that will accompany me down the aisle. Leo will be standing by Scott, trying to keep him calm, cool and collected. Our kids are our whole life so having them share in this moment is incredibly special and meaningful. I'm not sure we could be any luckier.
