For years Lorena's friends would tell her about Nima, and Nima's friends would tell him about Lorena - how perfect they'd be for one another. Nima and Lorena were both busy with school and residency which kept them from meeting until much later. It was meant to be this way because once they met, it sparked something in both of their hearts. Between their busy work schedules and social lives, they finally met for dinner in December of 2016. It was a cold winter night in New York City when Nima took Lorena out on their first date to a french restaurant called DBGB. Little did either know that they were about to begin the first night of their lives together. Neither Nima nor Lorena had any idea that the person sitting across from them was going to become the most important person in their life. The entire night Lorena had butterflies in her stomach - she couldn't believe she hadn't met him sooner! He was just so handsome, and she felt an instant attraction - a spark; something she had never felt before. As for Nima, he couldn't stop smiling. He was blown away by how beautiful she looked, how kind and sweet she was; and most notably, her adorable laugh. That first night together turned into many nights together. Life threw many curveballs. They uprooted from New York and moved to Miami, Florida where they shared an apartment and made many memories together. They were getting ready to move together to Wichita Falls, TX for Nima's residency; which in hindsight, thankfully fell through. In late 2018, Nima settled in New York where Lorena later joined him to continue living their life full of love. The one thing that has kept things going stronger each day is their respect, love and devotion for each other. And through their marriage, they will continue that for the rest of their lives.

After selecting an engagement ring for Lorena, Nima was tasked with planning a surprise proposal. Nima knew it was going to be difficult to keep a secret from Lorena; so he planned to propose at the most unsuspecting time! There was no way Lorena would have anticipated the proposal as he had it planned. On January 16, 2019, Lorena met Nima for dinner at the home of mutual friends of theirs. After a long day of work, Lorena walked into their house wearing her hospital clothes and holding her work bag. The first thing she noticed was Nima standing in the middle of a big red heart made out of red rose petals - and of course, Nima was wearing his infamous basketball shorts. Talk about setting the mood! Nima asked Lorena to step into the big heart with him and held her hands. He got down on one knee and asked Lorena to marry him. As comfortable as he was (especially in basketball shorts), and as much as he knew Lorena would say yes, Nima was still so nervous that his hand was shaking when he pulled out the beautiful diamond ring. He asked Lorena to spend the rest of her life with him. Lorena was still holding her work bag and was completely caught off guard. It was a perfect proposal because Nima managed to keep the element of surprise. It was so Nima to propose this way; Nima's personal touch on something so romantic and traditional. Lorena will always cherish sharing that special evening with their dear friends and her future husband, Nima.
