We met at the NCK free fair in Republic County, Belleville, Kansas. Lucas Hoge, a Hubbell, Nebraska native, was performing at my county fair and Loren came down to Belleville to watch Lucas perform. After the concert, Loren met a friend in the beer garden for a drink. I was out with my girlfriends and we decided to go to the beer garden as well. After a few glances his way, I decided to introduce myself....my pick up line was "So, what's your name?" From that moment on, its been a wonderful love story.
Loren proposed to me at my childhood home. Coal Creek Church was a country church that is located 7 miles south of Centralia, KS or about a mile and half from a country town named Beckerville. Yes, there are a lot of Becker's!! In the summer of 1968, the Coal Creek Church closed. When I was 3, my dad purchased and remodeled the hall which became our family home. We took flowers to my grandmother's grave which is across the road from my childhood home. Loren knew how close I was to my grandmother and chose to propose to me there.
As we celebrate our marriage, please let your gift to us be prayers and your presence at our ceremony!
