Our Love Story

We first laid eyes on each other in the fall of 2012, I was a freshman and Jess was a sophomore at Wittenberg University (Tiger Up!). At the time I wore a Turpin hoodie around campus and was given the nickname Turpin by Jess. Jess was that cute guy that lived on the 5th floor of Tower Hall. One day, my mom had the chance to meet this cute guy on the elevator. I always had my eyes on him as we had mutual friends and would hangout every now and then. It was not long after meeting each other that Jess became the annonucer/ commentator for the Wittenberg softball team. One game Jess’s mom, Judy and step dad, Eddie came to watch him in action. Judy asked, “Who’s that shortstop? She’s good.” Crazy to think that she was going to be her future daughter- in- law. It wasn't until fall of 2014 that our love story truly began. Fall of 2014, Jess and I found out we both shared interest toward each other through word of mouth, so we went for it! After four months of “talking” Jess finally asked me to be his girlfriend. We quickly became each other's best friend as we are basically the same person, just opposite gender. Summer of 2017, we finally decided to get our own apartment in Pleasant Ridge. We enjoyed living there for four years, catching late night Ubers and grabbing some delicious PRC (Pleasant Ridge Chili for those that don’t know!) to end the night. Within those four years we found the perfect addition to our family, Ziggy. Adding Ziggy has added so much joy and love to our family. He is spoiled with love from everyone and anyone he comes in contact with. March 23, 2021, we closed on our first home. We made our first home, ours and by September I planned a housewarming party to celebrate with our closest friends and family…come to find out, I planned my own engagement party as well. Jess announced that there was a gift to be opened. In the middle of the yard, I started opening a large Amazon box, only to find another box....inside another box…and another box. Finally, there was a small ring box….that was empty. That’s when reality hit. “Is this real?” September 18th is a day to remember as my best friend proposed and it was the start of our next chapter. We know our timeline isn't like most. After seven years, owning a dog and buying a house together, we couldn't be more excited or more ready to take this walk together toward marriage. We are looking forward to finally celebrating the love that we have with our close friends and familiy! #LetsGetStanky #ForeverStanky #CantHandleTheStank
