Welcome to the future Hottenstein's wedding website, we can't wait to celebrate our special day with you! It all began with a BBQ hosted by Loren's family. Gade lived on Maui but worked in Fiji on Tavarua Island, a heart shaped island (google it!), & knew Loren's family from here. Gade was fortunately in town & was able to make the BBQ with some other Tavarua friends. Beers were shared, a tequila shot or 2 were taken & off Loren went to play soccer (he still is amazed by this)! After that, we became Facebook friends and that was just about the extent of us. About 6 months later, Loren was going on vacation to Tavarua with her family for the first time. Gade was working on the island as a 'boatman' & would be there. Loren had a feeling Gade liked her so was a little nervous for the trip at first, as she really wasn't sure what to expect, but off to Tavarua it is! So Loren gets to the island, a hello is exchanged between us & the day goes on until it's happy hour at the Kulu bar, which I must point out is a bar right on the sand - what more could Loren ask for! Once a tall cold beer is poured for both, we start chatting & hit it off instantly. The next day Loren wakes up thinking "oh shoot, I think I like this guy!" & thank goodness, it was mutual! So the next 10 days of vacation were followed with visits to Cloudbreak watching Gade surf, kayaking around the island, & many jet ski rides to the middle of the ocean. The way we clicked instantly & hit it off is still something Loren obsesses over; everything about him & this trip was so perfect. I think it's safe to say we both knew this was something special, & we have been together since. So from that point on, we were constantly traveling from Cali, to Maui, to Fiji, doing everything we could to see each other as we lived in separate places. After 3 years together, Gade moved to Cali, we got our dog who we named Kulu - and yes, he was named after the bar we met at - and after a year of living together, we are engaged; 11.22.2017! It has been an amazing 6 years together and we cheers to the many more!
