When family and friends come in town, Checkers is one place always on our to-do list. We never leave without ordering a Weiss in a boot with lemon, Bavarian Onion & Apple Soup, Schweinhaxen (2 LB pork shank), and Homemade Apple Strudel.
Located on an island, Cap's Place is quite literally a hidden gem. The fish is fresh and the drinks are the strongest in town. Stop by the Bamboo Bar for a cocktail or make a reservation in advance to enjoy their delicious specials. You can't go wrong with their fresh hearts of palm salad (it's unlike anything you've ever had), crab cakes, escargot, bacon-wrapped scallops, and key lime pie. Their specials are always incredible! Note to meat eaters: Loren highly recommends the lamb chops if they are available.
