Fun Fact: Portland is one of six American cities with an extinct volcano within its limits, and just so happens there's park built upon on it. Mount Tabor is perfect for local hiking trails, laid back walks around the reservoir, city views, and picnics.

The Columbia River Gorge has some pretty insane views and waterfalls. It's easily accessible from Portland, roughly a 30 minute drive. Pro-Tip: Parking can be pretty difficult at times, particularly at Multnomah Falls. There are a number of companies that will provide tours and shuttle you to and through the Columbia River Gorge!
Two words - Glacial. Volcano. Check out Mount Hood and the beautiful forest that surrounds it. Timberline Lodge sits atop and is a notorious brunch location. For you Stephen King fans, the lodge was used to film all the exterior shots from "The Shining".
