It's almost embarrassing to say, but we met our sophomore year of high school. We had chemistry and guitar class together and we spent more time talking to each other than learning chemical compounds and chords. We started dating our junior year and all our friends told us that they could see it coming from a mile away!
After high school we both went to Kennesaw State for very different majors; Kenzi did physics and Preston did English. We spent a great four and a half years at KSU learning so much about ourselves, life, and how to live life as a pair. We were truly lucky to get to experience it all together! The biggest lesson we learned is that life is always better with your best friend at your side.
The proposal was such a dream. Preston came up with tons of ideas in secret, but the perfect moment came at a time he hadn't planned for. The day before the Renaissance Festival, we decided to hike down to the ruins of the Sope Creek paper mill and take pictures in our costumes that we were very proud of. It looked like an old castle, and the nearby river was so romantic. So there, recorded with a cell phone camera, surrounded by green and old castle walls, two wizards got engaged. You can bet that we had a great time at the Renaissance Festival Wizard Weekend the next day, and Kenzi's homemade wizard hat was a big hit among the staff and strangers.
