Miguel’s side: When I first saw Elsie, my first thought was “Wow! She is so beautiful!”, My second thought was, “Wow… she really doesn't like me!” Elsie would tease me DAILY in Spanish Club where we met, and for a long while, I was convinced that Elsie didn’t like me much. You can imagine my surprise when Elsie asked me out to coffee. I actually had to ask several of my friends if they thought this invitation was genuine, or part of some continuing, elaborate joke. Luckily, it turned out to be the former. I learned that Elsie did NOT dislike me: quite the opposite. I decided to take the invitation and go on that date, and I certainly did not regret it. Now, here we are almost 6 years later, and engaged to be married. I am glad that I made the right decision to accept that invitation, rather than succumb to negative thoughts and reject it. To those reading this: never be afraid to take a big leap, even if it’s scary, because who knows what you will miss out on? A mi amor: te amo con todo mi corazón, y no puedo esperar lo que nos espera en el futuro. Elsie’s side: My sister Julie repeatedly insisted that I go to the Spanish club. She convinced me that the people in the club were interested in our culture, our Professor Montoya was awesome and they also really needed a club photographer. I decided to attend; when Julie pointed out the professor, I was already distracted by the man talking to him… yes it was Michael, Miguel was what everyone called him and that's the name he was introduced to me by. If you wonder why I call him Miguel, that is why. I NEVER missed a day of Spanish club after that. I flirtatiously teased and joked a lot with Miguel because of his focus on his work and his outfits which I thought were extremely stylish (dress shirts and leather shoes). One day I asked him, “Do you always dress this way?” which he found insulting until someone else in the club said, “Man, she's giving you a compliment.” I realized that Miguel was oblivious to my subtle flirts so I straight up asked him out for some coffee. Turned out he didn't like coffee but still went on that date with me. He brought me chocolates on that first date so I figured I'd keep dating him for free chocolate. Haha jk. With time, I got to see different sides of Miguel that I realized he didn’t share with others. He is smart, kind, gentle, sensitive, honest, extremely immature in a funny way, but most of all, he is selfless. I Can't wait to marry him and spend the rest of our lives in this world of love and adventures. Thank you for reading our little love story
