Our engagement story feels like something out of a dream, and somehow, we still can’t believe it was real. During a vacation in Cancun, Ariel told Savannah she had planned a special “dinner and dancing” evening. After a few days of vacation festivities in Cabo, Savannah admittedly didn’t suspect a thing. Looking back now, there were definitely signs, including a private car waiting with champagne and a banner that simply read “Love.” At the time, though, it just felt like Ariel was planning an incredibly romantic night. The surprises only continued from there. We were whisked away to a beautiful beachfront resort where we waited to be escorted to our next destination. Meanwhile, Ariel somehow managed to drink nearly an entire bottle of champagne in the car, which honestly should have been the biggest clue of the night. Soon, we were led up winding hills and along a secluded trail overlooking the ocean. At one point, Savannah was offered a blindfold, but after dramatically mentioning her eyelashes, politely declined. Moments later, we were asked to remove our shoes and continue barefoot through the sand. Then came a sudden flash of light. Ariel grabbed Savannah’s hands and softly said, “Just be in the moment.” And then we saw it. A breathtaking beachside proposal set beneath the Cancun sunset; glowing skies painted in shades of purple, pink, and orange, roses lining the sand, and illuminated letters asking the question that would change our lives forever: Will You Marry Me? Time seemed to stand still. We cried, laughed, held each other, and soaked in every second of that unforgettable moment. It was beautiful, emotional, and perfectly us. That night, surrounded by the ocean breeze and the most incredible sunset we had ever seen, our forever officially began.
