I always said I would never date someone I worked with. It just would never work out, right? Well it turns out I was wrong. Justin and I worked together for over a year before we ever hung out, but one night after work a bunch of co-workers went to the bar, a certain someone encouraged me to sit by him, and the rest is hisotry.

When Justin, Jayne and I coordinated surprising my dad in February of 2018 in Alaska, Justin and I also surprised both of them with a Valentine’s night getaway to Alyeska Resort in Girdwood, Alaska. This little town and amazing resort are in my top three places in Alaska, whether it is winter or summer. Justin and I had a few hours before my parents arrived, so we went took the tram to the top of the mountain to have a few beers and watch the skiers. My favorite part of the summit is that you can over look all of the surrounding mountains, look down on the beautiful resort, and look out over the Turnagain Arm, which is fed directly from the ocean. As we got closer and closer to the top, it started to snow harder and harder. When we got out there were HUGE snowflakes falling all around us. It was truly beautiful. We walked out onto this little walkway that gives you a 360 degree, breathtaking view. We were the only people out there, the most giant snowflakes I have ever seen falling gently around us, and the only sound below was the gentle swish of a passing skier below us. We stood out there for a good twenty minutes before I suggested we head inside the little cafe behind us to grab a beer and warm up. Justin wanted to stay a few more minutes to watch the skiers, so I agreed. The minutes passed. I hinted again at going inside to warm up. He wanted to stay. I didn’t mind too much and didn’t think too much of it. We didn’t get to see this every day after all. I turned around to comment on a skier passing below and he was down on one knee, shaking a bit with the most beautiful ring I have ever seen. I was SPEECHLESS and (according to Justin), just stuck my hand out to put the ring on). It was the most beautiful and private moment at one of my favorite places in the world. We are SO excited for our big day and look forward to seeing all of our favorite people in one place!
