HOTELS Below are a few hotels we recommend based on personal experience. There are also great options on AirBnB, but supply is limited - book well in advance! There are also MUNI buses and trains that connect throughout every part of the city, usually $3 per way. Car rentals can be arranged through the common agencies at SFO, or through the Turo app. If you choose to rent a car, keep in mind that any hotel in downtown (Union Square, SOMA etc) will likely charge $50-75 / day for parking. SpotHero is the best app for finding garages that charge $20-30 / day. TRAVEL We recommend flying into SFO for proximity to the city and volume of flight options. OAK is also a reliable option but a further distance to downtown SF.

Prior known as the Sir Francis Drake. Historic hotel that with a modern makeover. Located at the north end of Union Square, great for walking, shopping and getting around to any part of the city.

We usually stay at this hotel when visiting for its bay views and lack of city noise. Within a 10m walk to Chinatown, North Beach, and Embarcadero. Stay here if you prefer to be a bit further away from crowds and noise.

Old and opulent hotel originally opened in 1875 that was rebuilt after being wiped out by the 1906 fire. Right off of Market Street. Grand lobby vibes with live music.
