How We Met

Believe it or not, Taylor and I actually met at San Angelo Sheep and Goat Expo in the Summer of 2018. With many turn of events, Taylor and I ended up in the same Animal Science class that Fall. I shared a study guide with him and the rest was history.

Figuring out he was the one

The first few dates with Taylor were not what I what I would call “romantic” or “magical”. He was very shy at first, but once he got more comfortable, we started to figure out we actually did like each other. He met my parents on my birthday in March and had dinner at the house. This would be the first of many dinners at my parents’ house because my mom loves to cook and Taylor will eat just about anything she makes (except peas)! I met his parents a couple of weeks later, I was so nervous but it all ended well. I even got to meet both sets of his grandparents! I quickly realized his family was a lot like mine with strong faith and good values. I started to feel like Taylor could really be my future forever!

The Proposal

Taylor promised me that we could go on a date night and look at Christmas light after work on a Friday. He actually showed up to my office before I was off and helped me set up for a 4-H competition that was happening the next day. So after I got off, we headed to Marble Falls and ate at Doc's Fish Barn. He told me to get anything I wanted because our 2 year dating anniversary was coming up. Weird… but something that he would say. After that we walked through the Marble Falls “Walkway of Lights.” It was beautiful but it was so cold out! I have a tendency to try to put my hands in Taylor's jacket pockets when I am cold. But he would not let me get on his right side that night and I could not figure out why! (Little did I know… the ring was in that right jacket pocket!) We then went to Johnson City to look at their Christmas lights before heading back to Burnet. I got a little irritated because he read Dave Campbell's football articles the whole way home (this was supposed to be a date night after all!). The last stop was at a small park near my house where there was a little walk thru light display. So we got out and strolled and under the a red and blue tree… Taylor proposed. It was a total surprise! I was not expecting it at all since we were going on a cruise in a couple of weeks with his family. At the end of the day, I would not have it any other way. I will always treasure that night of looking at Christmas lights with Taylor!
