The beach is a great way to spend a couple hours whether you're napping, reading... or waiting for your hangover to pass (a cold plunge in Lake Michigan will heal you). ~5min walk from hotel blocks.
The best way to start the day is a walk on the lake! You can also rent bikes through divvy (unlock them using the Lyft app) and ride up and down the trail.
(AKA Michigan Ave) This is the main high street for large retailers. Oak, Walton, and Rush streets (at the north end of Michigan Ave) have more high-end and boutique shopping as well.
Free for all since 1868!
Our favorite thing to do with guests. We've tried most, if not all, of the different operators and they're all great. We just recommend choosing one that picks up near Michigan Avenue (like Wendella), and not on the south branch of the river.
The Bean!!! Take a walk through Millennium Park.
If you're looking for dinner before the Welcome Party, consider exploring West Loop! There are many renowned restaurants and cool bars. Most of the restaurants will require reservations and a little planning ahead. I'm listing Avec since it is a top restaurant in Chicago, not impossible to get into, and very close to the Welcome Party. We also love Trivoli Tavern, Rosemary, and Monteverde (in order of reservation difficulty) in the West Loop. When in doubt, poke around on theinfatuation.com/chicago for more recommendations.
Legendary Chicago steakhouse. A leisurely lunch while people watching on the patio is one of life's greatest luxuries. There's several restaurants on that same intersection with patios and all are good! Lux Bar is my second pick for lunch in Gold Coast.
On the hunt for deep dish? This is where you need to go. Bold move if you plan to do literally anything after.
If you're looking for a place to grab cocktails near the hotel before the wedding.
Rooftop bar across from the park if you're looking for drinks before the wedding. Call ahead, they close often for private parties.
Iconic Chicago bar. The Lodge across the street is also a great old school bar (free peanuts!)
Where we'd recommend getting a drink or lunch if you're in the Loop exploring Millennium Park or the Art Institute
A delightful place on the river to have lunch. You will need a reservation - make sure its on the patio!
Several options for grabbing a drink and light bites along the river! This is one of our favorite ways to spend an afternoon.
