We first met at our friend Chidi's birthday lunch during our last semester in college. We became closer through mutual friends and a small bible study group we had. We both thought there was something special about the friendship but didn't think too much about it because Lolade had accepted a job out in California and was moving soon. We kept in touch through texting and FaceTime and were able to visit each other a few times throughout the first couple years Lolade was in California. We always thought it was a great friendship and the other person was someone special. Sometimes we would think about it being something more but we'd never voice that because we lived so far away and cared a lot about the friendship. But... in February 2019, John initiated the conversation about dating and we both admitted that the other person was who we've been looking for in a relationship.
While dating we would try to visit each other every other month, switching off between California and Atlanta. When visiting, we'd always try and come up with cute date ideas and make the most of our time together. When we were in California, if John got in early enough we'd typically make a day out of it and go from the airport to the beach and then dinner in LA. That November, John planned an early flight in, then a trip to the beach with a couple of our friends, followed by a dinner date in LA. It seemed normal enough, but at sunset John proposed!! Sese was supposed to just be taking pictures of us, but was actually videoing the proposal and had a dress and makeup in her car for out fancy dinner reservations that night! NOW... we're so excited to see all our friends and family and celebrate our Marriage with everyone! May God be glorified through our union.
