A chilly Saturday morning, I had to make a reluctant trip to Walmart. I got in my car and realized I needed to get gas. I get out of the car to use the pump and I notice a man in uniform looking in my direction. We locked eyes a few times and I’m thinking to myself, why is this man staring at me??? Mind you, I looked like I just rolled out of bed, lol! To my surprise, he starts walking to me. After a few seconds, that felt longer, the pump alerts me to “see attendant.” Mr. Army (as I thought at the time) walks in and says hello. I return pleasantries and noticed his unique last name. I asked where he’s from and the conversation started from there. He was headed to Military Drill so he was in a bit of a hurry but he wanted to continue the conversation. We exchanged numbers and he wasted no time in calling me. We talked his whole ride to Williamsburg. A lot of voice and video calls later we had our first date and the rest is history.
It was a Saturday morning and I was on orders to Williamsburg, VA and I made a quick stop at a gas station. On look around, I saw a young lady. She looked like she was struggling to get some gas. As an gentleman, I walked towards her and offered my services. It seemed the machine was having issues therefore it alerted her to see the attendant. When she walked into the gas station, I casually pursued her and introduced myself. Her sweet, intelligent and angelic voice is what got me hooked. We spoke while the attendant got the issue resolved and we exchanged numbers. Our conversations were captivating. A few months later, surprisingly, she invited me to her church and I whole-heartily accepted. Then . . . I heard her sing!!! I was in awe when I walked into the church and my first gaze was her on stage, singing; she led offering that day. After that, I knew what to do. . . The rest is history!
Dating, this time, has been unlike any other. From day one, intentions were made and clear. Everything that has been said or done so far has intent and so much value. We can only give thanks to God because now, we see the importance of waiting on God’s time. We met each other at a time where we decided to actively work on “self” and heal from past hurt. In a time when we weren’t looking, He gave us the answer to our prayers. “Gaius checks off every box and most importantly, he has a heart for God.” - Lola “Lola has a heart of gold and adores God. It's evident through her personality and willingness to serve.“ - Gaius We had been talking and planning for the future long before the proposal. Lola knew it was coming but had no idea when or how. Deciding that was a challenge because of her inquisitive and observant nature. With the help of my siblings and hers, I was able to use what was supposed to be my birthday dinner to surprise her. Even though her tears and makeup ruined my new shirt, lol, the joy and excitement in her eyes made it more than worth it. We look forward to forever with each other! So . . . bring your dancing shoes and get ready to party! We can't wait to celebrate with you! #GaLa2020
