Please RSVP by September 1st 2021
Black Tie Optional: Tuxes and gowns are welcome, and so are suits and cocktail dresses
If your invitation says “Plus One” then yes. If not, we would prefer if it was just for those addressed on the invite. You never know who you will meet!
Although we love your little ones, this is an adult only affair. Help the couple celebrate and make it a date!
-Rings: Blessed by the Priest, the Koumbari exchange the rings 3 times between the couple's hands. This signifies that the weakness of one partner will be compensated by the strength of the other, so together they are made perfect. -Candles: The couple hold candles during the service. This symbolizes the spiritual willingness of the couple to receive Christ. -Joining of Hands: The Priest places the groom's right hand onto the bride's right hand. At this moment, the couple is joined as husband & wife. This starts the “oneness” of their love. -Crowning: The crowns signify the glory & honor of God given to the couple. They are crowned as the queen & king of their kingdom and that the two are now one. The Koumbaro exchanges the crowns 3 times between the couple. -Communion Cup: The couple drinks blessed wine to honor the first miracle Jesus performed. -Ceremonial Walk: The Priest leads the couple around the table 3 times in their first steps as partners & their “life’s walk” together.
The Koumbara/Koumbaro is the official sponsor for the wedding and is charged with many responsibilities during the ceremony. Their relationship with the couple becomes sanctified in the eyes of the church as they help perform some of the most symbolic pieces of a Greek Orthodox wedding.
In the Orthodox Church, vows are not exchanged because the couple's commitment is to God. They promise God that they will care for and love each other unconditionally. This is why the couple does not face each other, but rather towards the altar facing Chris
*Our only request is that you do not take photos or videos during the ceremony.* Please be considerate of our photographer. We want your eyes on us, not your phones. However, after the ceremony, we would love our guests to post pictures on to their social media channels, just tag us in each photo so we can keep track of all of your pictures!
Parking for the ceremony is free at the church. There is valet on site at the reception to take care of all parking needs.
